John Lothian: JLN Publishes Declaration of Independence

The JLN annual tradition of publishing the Declaration of Independence each July 4th brings new meaning and awareness from a list of old grievances and eternal truths that have been shared for centuries. A key grievance dealt with immigration and naturalization. The "Plantation Act of 1740" was a key driver of economic growth in the colonies, helping to attract immigration to America. All it took to become a citizen of the crown was to live in a colony for seven years and not leave, with a two-month absence limit.
